Job Description Summary

The Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions is responsible for managing the traditional undergraduate and graduate student recruitment function for the Enrollment Management Division including recruitment, evaluation, and yield of new undergraduate students and graduate students at the home campus in Webster Groves, MO. The Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions reports to the Chief Enrollment Officer, and directs the undergraduate and graduate program’s recruitment systems, manages the undergraduate and graduate office budget and personnel, collaborates with staff from student financial aid and financial services and with the offices of Academic Affairs and Global Marketing and Communications. As a senior member of the enrollment management team, the Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, contributes to the development of an overall enrollment management and marketing strategy and the ongoing development of the University’s recruitment and retention policies, procedures and programs, and must be fluent with current enrollment developments and trends.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 5-7 years’ experience in graduate admissions, undergraduate recruitment, enrollment, and student affairs.

Essential Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
• Provides leadership and direction in formulating the annual recruitment plan for target markets in traditional undergraduate freshmen, transfer students and graduate students.
• Serves as a member of the Enrollment Management team to contribute to and achieve goals established by the University Strategic Plan, including market development, key performance indicators, benchmarking, and measurement techniques.
• Manages an outstanding and results-oriented traditional undergraduate and graduate admission counseling team that delivers strong customer service and personal attention to students and parents; oversees hiring, training, development, and the measurement of inputs/outputs of the team, conducts annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
• Supervises and budgets approved Admission Counselor travel, staffing of off-campus recruitment events.
• Generates statistical reports necessary to monitor admission activity.
• Partners with Admission Operations in the functions of prospective student communications, campus visits, auditions, recruitment events, application/information processing, articulation agreements, records, and assessment.
• Partners with Financial Aid to use institutional aid as a strategic tool in meeting enrollment and net tuition revenue goals.
• Partners with the Office of Global Marketing and Communication to ensure recruitment materials, messages, and marketing efforts are effective.
• Partners with the Athletic Office for Division III Athletic recruitment.
• Assesses internal and external data and trends in order to inform the planning and budgeting process of the University as well as provide for strategic adjustments in current and ongoing Admissions activities; utilizes research and information technologies in conducting market analysis and forecasting, as well as developing new markets.
• Cultivates and maintains positive working relationships with related individuals and groups both inside and outside of the University, stays informed of academic changes within the curriculum, communicates the mission and goals of the undergraduate recruitment effort to the University community.
• Participates on University committees and working groups.
• Understands and is committed to the Mission and Vision of Webster University.

• Oversees the activities and operations of assigned functions to ensure operations meet the strategic goals and objectives of the University.
• Supervises and directs the University’s graduate student marketing and research initiatives
• Coordinates assigned programs and activities with those of other departments and programs as well as outside agencies and organizations.
• Provides staff assistance to the Chief Enrollment Officer; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
• Facilitates enrollment projections with all colleges and schools; submits projections as well as monthly enrollment reports to the Chief Enrollment Officer & Office of Academic Affairs.
• Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates staff; establishes and monitors employee performance objectives; prepares and presents employee performance reviews; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline procedures.
• Assists in the development and administration of the budget for assigned functions; directs the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies.
• Serves on a variety of committees and task forces; researches and develops recommendations related to the University.
• Maintains awareness in current developments and trends in enrollment management, student services, higher education and fields related to assigned functions.
• Represents Webster University at community and outside organization functions.
