Job Description Summary

The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor of Acting. We are seeking a highly collaborative colleague with a dedication to training aspiring actors in a rigorous, professional training program.

Primary responsibilities include teaching First and Fourth Year Acting classes within a sequential eight semester curriculum, participating in the day-to-day activities of the department, advising, and potentially directing in the Conservatory season. First year Acting teaches fundamental principles and skills through games and exercises, and applies those skills to monologue and scene work in contemporary realism. Self discovery is an important component of the first year experience. Fourth year Acting focuses on scene work from early American realism to present day works.

Minimum Qualifications

M.F.A in Acting or equivalent terminal degree or evidence of tested experience appropriate to the teaching assignment; a minimum of three years national/regional professional experience and college-level teaching experience, and the strong potential for continuing professional creative activities.

Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will also have a solid grounding in a recognized acting methodology and pedagogical familiarity with one or more other approaches.
